With projects often stemming from fieldwork to remote locations where acute geophysical identities have formed–such as volcanoes, glaciers and nuclear test sites–the work by Charrière speculates on the position of the human in the world and the world within the human. Frequently collaborating with composers, scientists, engineers, art historians and philosophers, his artworks critically reflect on the cultural traditions of perceiving, representing, and engaging with the natural world. Charrière has been exhibited by major institutions, including Langen Foundation, SFMOMA, Dallas Museum of Art, Centre Pompidou, MAMbo Bologna, Berlinische Galerie, MASI Lugano, Aargauer Kunsthaus, Musée des Beaux-Arts Lausanne, as well as international events such as the Biennale di Venezia, the Biennale de Lyon, Guangzhou Image Triennial, or the Antarctic Studio The studio consists of an international and dedicated team of professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds, all working to support the realization of artworks and exhibitions by artist Julian Charrière. A dynamic and fast paced environment, our daily activities range from architectural planning to project management, archiving and research, publication and communication, manual workshop production and installation. With many collaborators beyond the studio walls, it is a site for creative production and exchange, with a strong policy of inclusivity and diversity. Veröffentlicht bis 31.12.
