We are hiring an Associate, Strategy & Business Intelligence, preferably based in Rotterdam, who will manage and further expand Hitachi Energy’s Strategy and Business Intelligence efforts to support strategic projects and decision making. This role has the unique opportunity to drive strategic development and collaborate on expanding Hitachi's Energy market leadership, while working towards the electric energy system of the future.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drives the further evolution of Hitachi Energy’s business intelligence efforts, deepening and broadening actionable insight on key markets, customers and competitors. (Co)leads preparation of Executive/Board discussion material, both on regular monthly interval as well as ad-hoc, with the highest level of attention to detail. Helps continuously improve collection & elevation of insights and action points as created by wider Hitachi Energy intelligence community.
  • Pushes tracking and analysis of Hitachi Energy competitors (traditional and non-traditional; stock-listed and private) and customers to the next level, through weekly, monthly, and quarterly deliverables, such as executive intelligence updates. Takes responsibility and ownership to further build out competitor analysis and benchmarking in collaboration with BUs & Regions to drive insight and suggested course of action. Adds coverage of key customer- and competitor events real-time to further refine market outlook and understanding of strategic actions and implications.
  • Tracks and assesses a variety of macro-economic, political, and regulatory indicators that are judged relevant to Hitachi Energy, through standard deliverables such as a weekly intelligence briefing. Takes responsibility in assisting the preparation of key strategy/intelligence reports for EC/Management team and other stakeholders.
  • Works in close collaboration with the Market Intelligence team within Marketing and Sales, supporting creation of top-down views of the market, challenging market views coming from the Business Units, Countries, or Industry Network Leaders, and ensuring smooth operations throughout the Hitachi Energy intelligence network – e.g. by contributing to the reshaping of the Market Intelligence Portal.
  • Leads and drives workstreams on ad-hoc strategy projects and reports, as requested by the organization (e.g. EC, BUs) or pushed from the Strategy, Business Development and M&A team. Takes ownership to build close ties and work across the organization to drive forward Hitachi Energy’s performance.
  • Contributes to the wider Corporate Development team, BUs, and Regions, during strategy and M&A projects that help accelerate Hitachi Energy’s growth plans (e.g. strategic opportunity assessments, landscaping, commercial diligence). Helps to set up & run tracking of strategic progress.

  • Growth mindset with ability and drive to learn continuously.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically & strategically and drive forward projects independently.
  • Comfortable with financial analysis skills – e.g. to interpret competitor financial performance.
  • Excellent Excel modelling and Power Point skills, excellent research skills & creativity to challenge perspectives.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take the lead in a globally dispersed, oftentimes more senior, team.
  • 3-5 years of strategy/consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of Hitachi Energy segments, key competitors and customers is preferred.
  • Keen interest in global (macro)economic developments and Hitachi Energy’s markets/customers/competitors.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • University degree.
