About the Company Ming Yang Smart Energy (MySE) is an innovative renewable energy company focused on the development, construction, and operation of sustainable energy projects such as On- and Offshore wind, solar, and energy storage solutions. We are committed to accelerating the energy transition through technically robust and commercially viable projects across international markets. About the Role The Product and Technology Strategy Manager is a senior role within the European Business & Engineering Center responsible for shaping and maintaining the European product and technology roadmaps for the Ming Yang onshore and offshore wind turbine portfolios. The role translates market intelligence, customer requirements, regulatory developments and competitor moves into a coherent product strategy across both segments, and into a corresponding technology roadmap that prioritises the underlying R&D investments. The Product and Technology Strategy Manager works in close partnership with Commercial, Sales, Service, Engineering and the Director R&D Europe in Hamburg, and liaises intensively with the strategy, product and R&D leadership at Ming Yang headquarters in Zhongshan (China) to ensure alignment between the European market view and the global Ming Yang platform direction. The role is central to making Ming Yang a credible long-term player in the European market. Responsibilities Onshore and Offshore Product Roadmaps * Develop and maintain integrated product roadmaps for the European onshore and offshore wind turbine portfolios, including platform variants, ratings, rotor and tower options, drivetrain choices, foundation interfaces and operational modes. * Define product positioning for each target European market (DACH, North Sea, Baltic, Iberia, Nordics, UK, CEE) and adjacent international markets where European certification creates leverage. * Coordinate with the Onshore and Offshore Platform Lead to ensure that segment-specific roadmaps roll up into a coherent European portfolio view. * Maintain a structured roadmap artefact (timeline, variants, milestones, certification dependencies, market launch windows) used by Commercial, Sales, Engineering and HQ alike. Technology Roadmap * Develop and maintain a European technology roadmap covering the key R&D domains (rotor and aerodynamics, drivetrain, electrical and converter, controls, structural, foundations and floating, service and digital) aligned with the product roadmap. * Identify technology bets, build-vs-buy choices, and partnership opportunities that meaningfully improve LCOE, IRR, reliability or HSE for European projects. * Track technology readiness levels (TRL) of key innovations, prioritise R&D investments, and propose phased introduction into production platforms. * Maintain awareness of the global wind technology landscape, including university research, national laboratories, supply chain innovation and competitor patent activity. Market Intelligence and Strategic Analysis * Build and maintain a structured European market intelligence base, including pipeline, auction outcomes, grid connection plans, permitting trends and policy developments. * Track competitor product moves (Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, Nordex, GE, Enercon and relevant Chinese peers) and translate them into implications for the MySE roadmap. * Conduct structured benchmarking on performance, cost, LCOE, serviceability and customer experience together with the commercial team. * Maintain LCOE and developer IRR comparators with the commercial team for European market scenarios, and use them to support roadmap and product decisions. * Monitor regulatory and policy developments (EU industrial policy, Foreign Subsidies Regulation, NIS2, Cyber Resilience Act, grid code evolution) and feed implications into the roadmap. Alignment with Commercial, Sales and Service * Act as the structured interface between Commercial, Sales, Service and R&D Europe on product and technology questions. * Translate sales pipeline, lost-deal feedback and customer requests into roadmap inputs and prioritisation. * Support Sales and Commercial in shaping bid strategies, configuration choices and customer-facing technical narratives based on the roadmap. * Coordinate with the Service organisation to ensure that aftermarket needs (upgrades, performance enhancements, retrofits, service products) are reflected in the product and technology roadmaps. Coordination with R&D Headquarters (Zhongshan) * Act as the European counterpart to the strategy, product management and R&D leadership at MySE headquarters in Zhongshan. * Translate European market and regulatory requirements into structured input for the global MySE product and technology agenda, using the established Technical Information Request process and equivalent strategy channels. * Reconcile the global MySE product portfolio view with the European market view, identifying gaps, opportunities and conflicts and driving them to resolution. * Travel to Zhongshan regularly for joint planning, portfolio reviews and strategy workshops. Internal and External Representation * Represent the European product and technology view in internal management forums, portfolio reviews and budget cycles. * Support customer and partner conversations on roadmap topics where appropriate, in coordination with Commercial and Sales. * Represent MySE selectively at industry events, conferences and working groups on European product and technology themes. Strategy Process and Documentation * Establish and maintain the strategy process for R&D Europe, including roadmap cadence, decision gates, review forums and documentation standards. * Maintain the European roadmap artefacts in a structured, auditable and version-controlled manner. * Contribute to the European technical and commercial documentation architecture, ensuring strategy outputs are accessible, current and aligned with the broader MySE governance. * Mentor more junior colleagues and contribute to the wider R&D Europe organisation as a senior role model. Qualifications * Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Energy or related). An additional business, strategy or economics qualification (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage. * Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the wind industry or adjacent renewable energy sectors, with substantial exposure to product management, technology strategy, business development or strategic engineering roles. * Proven track record of owning or significantly shaping a product or technology roadmap for a multi-MW wind turbine portfolio or a comparable complex industrial product. * Strong understanding of the wind energy value chain (development, permitting, grid, financing, EPC, O&M) and of how product and technology decisions translate into project economics. * Working knowledge of IEC 61400 standards, European grid codes and the European regulatory landscape relevant to onshore and offshore wind. * Experience with structured market intelligence, competitor benchmarking and LCOE / IRR analysis. * Experience working within a global OEM is highly sought after. * Experience working with Chinese OEMs or in a Europe–China strategic context is a strong advantage. Skills * Strong strategic thinking combined with structured execution; able to move fluently between long-horizon roadmap views and concrete near-term product decisions. * Excellent analytical skills, including comfort with techno-economic modelling, scenario analysis and competitor benchmarking. * Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including the ability to brief senior management, customers and external stakeholders on roadmap and strategy topics. * Strong cross-cultural competence; able to build trust and drive alignment with Chinese strategy, product and R&D leadership. * Ability to build consensus and drive decisions across geographically distributed and multi-functional teams without direct line authority. * Highly structured and disciplined, with strong documentation and roadmap-management habits. * Languages: English (fluent, working language) is required. German is an advantage. Mandarin Chinese is a significant advantage given the intensity of coordination with MySE headquarters. * Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25 to 35 percent), including regular trips to Zhongshan, to European customer and project sites, and to industry events. What We Offer * The opportunity to build and shape a rapidly growing organization in Europe within one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers * Strong growth and development opportunities as we expand our European operations * A truly international environment, working closely with colleagues across Europe and Asia * A high-performing, diverse team with an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset * The chance to make a real impact in the energy transition and contribute to a more sustainable future * Competitive compensation and benefits, aligned with local market practices At MingYang Europe, we combine the speed and ownership of a scale-up with the strength of a global technology leader.
