Field Application Engineer – Power Electronics (m/f/d)

Our client is an innovative semiconductor technology company focused on sensor solutions and power electronics for industrial and automotive applications. We are looking for a senior, hands-on Field Application Engineer – Power Electronics with direct experience working with IGBT and/or SiC power modules. This is a key technical role focused on building and operating a dedicated Power Electronics FAE Lab, performing measurements and validation activities, and supporting inverter OEMs, module manufacturers, Tier-1 suppliers, and power electronics customers across EMEA. Please note: Direct hands-on experience with IGBT and/or SiC power modules is a must-have requirement for this position. Key Responsibilities * Own and develop technical relationships with inverter OEMs, module manufacturers, Tier-1 suppliers, and power electronics customers, from initial technical demonstration through to design-in. * Set up and manage a dedicated Power Electronics FAE Lab, including: 1. Integration of power modules and current sensors 2. Busbar and system integration 3. Magnetic field calculation and characterization 4. Validation of complete measurement chains * Generate critical application data for customers, including: 1. Field vs. distance curves 2. Crosstalk measurements 3. Thermal behavior analysis * Support hands-on testing, measurements, troubleshooting, and validation activities using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, current probes, thermal imaging tools, and prototyping setups. * Create application notes, integration guides, and reference designs that simplify complex technical systems for customer use. * Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and customer events through live demonstrations and technical presentations. * Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, translating application needs into practical engineering solutions. Ideal Candidate Profile * 10+ years of relevant experience in power electronics, ideally in Field Application Engineering, Application Engineering, Lab Engineering, or customer-facing technical support roles. * Direct hands-on experience with IGBT and/or SiC power modules is mandatory. * Strong understanding of DBC technology, busbar design, switching losses, gate drivers, reliability, and lifetime considerations. * Familiarity with motor control, current loop design, inverter topologies, and module architectures. * Strong knowledge of current sensing technologies and their design implications. * Proven hands-on lab experience with power electronics measurements, validation, prototyping, and troubleshooting. * Confident in customer-facing technical discussions with engineering teams, including Tier-1 automotive suppliers, industrial drive companies, inverter OEMs, or module manufacturers. * Fluent English skills. German is a strong plus. Nice to Have * Experience with ISO 26262 / ASIL and automotive development environments. * Background working directly with module manufacturers, inverter OEMs, or Tier-1 suppliers. * Knowledge of advanced packaging technologies, such as bare die handling or wire bonding. * Experience supporting design-in processes for automotive or industrial power electronics applications.
