Center for Knowledge & Analytics 

Title: Knowledge Analyst - Machinery & Components
Function: Knowledge Team, Industrial Goods PA
Location: Düsseldorf, Germany
Status: Temporary for 1 year, full time


We are looking for a strong candidate to fill a Knowledge Analyst (KA) position in the Industrial Goods practice area's Engineered Products & Infrastructure (EPI) topic. Within EPI, Machinery & Components is characterized by a great variety of general and special purpose machines and components. Companies active in this field are often medium sized, highly specialized, export driven, and hold leading positions in their respective fields. Product examples include machine tools, automation equipment and drives, engines and compressors, material handling equipment, construction machinery, cranes, and elevators. Across all sectors, technological developments like Industry 4.0, industrial automation and additive manufacturing play an important role.

The Machinery & Components topic area is an expert network of Knowledge Team members and experienced consultants who help our clients with specific machinery and components cases. As a Knowledge Analyst for this topic within the Industrial Goods practice, you will support our consulting teams by providing expertise, conducting research, and performing selected analyses for client project teams and internal projects.


Work with case (and proposal) teams

  • Partners with case teams to identify & address critical knowledge needs
  • Provides customized knowledge for client work, prepares accurate, well developed documents and charts
  • Delivers original analysis and insights to case team, provides thought partnership
  • With guidance from senior members of the team, identifies right expert & connects him/her with requestor
  • Liaises with Data and Research Services team to ensure that requests for expertise are addressed by KT and appropriate research is delivered
  • With consultants, collects, synthesizes, analyzes case team learning & inputs into new knowledge products (vignettes, experience)

Work with topic/sector teams

  • Builds & updates new topic/sector-related customized knowledge products
  • Controls KM databases' consistency
  • Reviews knowledge products & ensures they are current & relevant and updates when appropriate
  • Assures proper sign-off before uploading materials into KM & contributes to sanitization
  • Writes abstracts & indexes projects & PA documents
  • Actively participates in efforts to further develop BCG IP and networks tools and methodologies
  • Collaborates on PA intellectual capital development such as Tier 1s
  • Contributes to content development around topic/sector for PA meetings & trainings


Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree with high academic achievement required, particularly in economics, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, automation technology or similar
  • Relevant internships or up to 3 years of industry experience in the area of machinery and components or around 1 year of consulting experience
