Your responsibilities as Trainee District Heating System Hamburg
Business Area Heat develops and operates the entire heat value chain and creates and offers integrated heat/energy solutions to meet the current and future energy needs of a growing urban Society. BA Heat operates district heat systems in Sweden, the Netherlands, Berlin and Hamburg. Within the department Grid Construction and Operations Hamburg we aim to shape the future of district heating in Hamburg, to promote the conversion to a climate-friendly heat supply and to provide our customers with a high supply quality.

As a Trainee District Heating System you are responsible for the transfer of the economic, legal and technical requirements for district heating to a medium and long term strategy for the operation of the district heating System in Hamburg and the design of the asset district heating grid.

Key responsibilities:

  • Project management and cooperation in improvement projects (e.g. asset management)
  • Support of strategic development projects and processes
  • Supporting the business at various levels in the organization (from the work floor to management levels)
  • Development of ideas for the optimization of business processes and their implementation
  • Support of management in change processes
  • Collaboration in business projects

Your Profile as Trainee District Heating System Hamburg

We are looking for you when you are top of your class, you graduate before September 2017 and have an academic degree. You are fluent in business English and German. Additional fluent world language skills, other than English, is a merit. In the trainee programme we want to mirror society in general. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organisation. You identify yourself with our core values: safety, performance, and cooperation.

As a Trainee District Heating System Hamburg you recognize yourself in the following qualifications:

  • Academic degree in engineering
  • Proven interest in complex supply infrastructures with preference for asset-related processes
  • Education focus preferably with on process engineering or energy engineering
  • Sound knowledge of energy economics
  • Business education, preferably in economics
  • Result driven with ability to make priorities to reach deadlines
  • High energy and ability to cope with uncertainty
  • Independent working style with ability to create structure and deliverables within a given framework
  • Well above average learning and comprehension ability
  • High Emotional Intelligence with ability to work cross cultures (geographical; as well as organizational)

Last day to apply is February 24th 2017. After applying you will be informed about the exact timeline of the recruitment process. In the first phase, after passing the resume selection, you will be invited for an analytical skills test, a video assignment and a phone interview. After you have passed all three steps, we will invite you for an interview around mid-April. An assessment is also part of the recruitment process and will take place in the last week of April. The recruitment process will be finalized around the first week of May. The last step will be a preemployment screening. Starting date of the Vattenfall International Trainee Programme will be September 1st 2017.
