The Financial Institutions Practice (FIP) aims to be the consultant of choice for leaders in the financial industry.
We seek to achieve that by helping clients in the industry find their way in this new competitive landscape. By focusing on underlying customer needs and the fundamental economics of the business, we help banks, brokerages, asset and wealth managers and other financial services companies rethink their strategic assumptions and identify winning business propositions. We also help them to exploit new opportunities and move quickly to get things done.


We are seeking a strong candidate with considerable expertise in Retail and Corporate Banking (ideally with a good understanding of product specific business economics) to fill a Knowledge Analyst position in BCG's Financial Institutions Practice. The position will be based in the Frankfurt office. The candidate will contribute and further develop the global BCG banking market sizing model, the BCG Banking Pools. Based on the insights of the
BCG Banking Pools, the candidate will work with and support our consulting team and clients by providing expertise in case situations.

The Knowledge Analyst will interact with international teams and use an extensive collection of internal and external information resources to gather, filter, analyze, synthesize, package and deliver information to consulting teams and clients. This role will participate in and manage Financial Institutions Practice Area topics, projects and proprietary databases under the guidance of senior Financial Institutions Practice Area members.


Work with consulting teams

  • Scopes knowledge needs of consulting teams & liaises with colleagues to address them
  • Provides customized knowledge for client work, occasionally may provide client facing expertise
  • Acts as a thought partner, establishes credibility with consulting teams, and provides problem solving and topic insights
  • Creates and delivers original and rigor analysis and insights
  • Captures, codifies and maintains knowledge content
  • Liaises with multiple stakeholders to deliver work products

Work with topic/sector teams

  • Develops and maintains a proprietary databases & data model
  • Controls quality and contributes to update and fine-tune the existing Banking Pools knowledge base
  • Develops content for go-to-market materials and supports marketing initiatives
  • Contributes to building topics sector/teams and suggesting emerging topics/sectors based on client demand


  • University degree with high academic achievements required in business administration, economics, finance or any other relevant subject with strong analytical focus
  • Relevant internships or up to 2 years of industry or up to 1 year consulting experience in corporate or retail banking, ideally related to business economics in banking
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong codification and development of knowledge skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English
  • Ability to work with multiple clients in a fast-paced environment, and manage parallel tasks
  • Strong work ethic and service mentality
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative team player, credible ability to maintain discretion when needed
