The Technology Advantage Practice is one of BCG's functional practice areas. To reflect the role of technology in business and society today, the practice effectively combines extensive industry, digital and technology expertise with strategic insight, change management, and implementation know-how.



We are seeking a strong candidate with experience to fill a position within the Technology Advantage Practice as a Knowledge Analyst with a focus on our IT benchmarking studies in banking.

As a Knowledge Analyst, you will join the Technology Advantage Knowledge Team that runs IT benchmarking studies in banking. You will leverage internal and external resources including your own expertise and experience in the use of IT in business environments to further develop our benchmarking methodology. You will collect, analyze, and package the benchmarking data into meaningful results for the clients' IT management. You will also participate in and manage analysis efforts under the guidance of senior Technology Advantage Practice knowledge team members. Your developmental path will include increasing opportunities to work as a member, and eventually lead modules, of the Technology Advantage client and internal investment projects, leveraging expertise and experience gained from client benchmarking.

Do you have a sound knowledge of key information technologies and, equally importantly, knowledge of their application in a business environment? Do you also have an affinity for IT and a background in financial analysis?
Practical experience either in the IT services industry with IT analyst and consulting firms or in a corporate role at the interface between business and IT would be appropriate, but other backgrounds that have resulted in business-oriented expertise in IT will be considered. Likewise, experience in IT or operational/process benchmarking is valuable, but not necessary.


Working with consulting teams

  • Providing customized knowledge for client work, preparing accurate, well-developed documents and charts
  • Delivering original analysis and insights to consulting teams, providing thought partnership
  • Partnering with consulting teams to identify and address critical knowledge needs
  • Taking the initiative to ensure proposal or client teams put their best foot forward; connecting people and suggesting the most appropriate products, tools, and analytics

Working with knowledge teams

  • Developing and updating IT in banking knowledge products
  • Tracking and sharing of digital trends to further innovate IT in banking knowledge products
  • Collaborating on BCG internal initiatives for intellectual capital developments
  • Contributing to IT in banking related content development for practice area meetings and trainings


  • Master's degree with demonstrated high academic achievement, preferably in business administration, economics, industrial engineering or IT related studies
  • Relevant internships or first work experience (up to 2 years) in IT or banking related topics
  • (IT) benchmarking experience is a plus
  • High work ethic and service mentality
  • Strong, proven analytical and conceptual capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, additional German language skills would be a plus but are not required
  • Ability to tolerate ambiguity;
  • Self-starter with strong self-motivation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple parallel tasks
  • Flexibility (assignments at client sites are possible)
  • Ability to maintain discretion when needed
